KAMPIRTEPA (in English)


Kampirtepa, tower-city, was existed from III century B.C until II century. Kampirtepa was situated 1,5 km away from the west of the village Sho’rob, on a high hill which is located on the right coast of Amudarya river. The sightseeing includes a tower and some external unfortified buildings. The whole length of it  estimates 750 m from west to east and 200-250 m from north to south.



The tower part of this city extended in 4 hectares which is 275 m from west to east, 175 m from north to south and includes  Arki-a’lo  and apartments.   Furthermore, it is covered with pit and 5 metres lengthed defensive walls.
Arki- a’lo had 1,3 total area, in addition that it was situated in the centre of the tower.
Arki-a’lo was surrounded by defence wall and pits. City blocks which were situated in part of city had architectural appearance like amphitheatre. Houses which  was connected with defence buildings had compact pits. Buildings were situated  very dense especially in eastern part of city.
There were main graveyards which situated outside of the tower.
In the northern-west of the tower city was situated 10 graveyards and ovens which meant for ceramics.
Kampirtepa was compared with Pandaxeon-Pandoki-Pardagvi(Hotel) which was situated in crossing place. According to the research in Kampirtepa, a lot of things were found which belonged to the centures between III B.C and II.
  There were cemetric things which  belonged to the first period  III-II centuries B.C and coins from kings of Yunon-Baqtriya, especially from kings Yevtimed, Yevtratid as well as Demetriy.
Besides samples of ceramics there were made coins  named after kings like Geleokl  in the second period(II-I century). There were many things which belonged to the third period I-II centuries B.C like  bowls,cups, jewlleries,metal mirrors, labour tools that made from metal and stone(mode of fighter,woman goddess,pictures of animals(zoomorfs)). Findings in Kampirtepa especially, Baqtriya notes which  were made of shell of birch, surface of ceramic, also coins made after names of kings like Soter, Megas, Kadfiz II, Kanishka and Kushons were very important.
